Recital Makeup 2013

Hey, remember this? Ya, I haven't updated this in a year. Oops.

Anyways, here's a step by step on how to do the makeup Tina wants for All That Jazz. I did one side so you can compare each step if you'd like.

1. I started by covering my eyelids and around my eyes with Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion. This keeps everything in place really well. If you don't have that then try some liquid foundation then set it with colorless powder. That doesn't work quite as well but does keep eye makeup from moving around quite as much.

2. Line your eye with black eyeliner. I would do a little bit of line, then use a smudge brush to make it smokey. A qtip or your finger works for that as well. I put liner in between my lower lashes and my eye because I think it looks better on me. It's not too hard to do as long as your eye liner isn't really hard. Softer ones go on easier.

3. Make a short line from the corner of your eye towards the edge of your eyebrow. I usually go about halfway but it really depends on your particular face shape and personal preference.

4. Now make a line from the tip of the last line towards to middle of your lashes.

5. Now fill in the space and adjust the shape as needed. Being able to smudge is pretty helpful at this point. I never get mine perfectly even but I can at least fudge it to look close enough. You can also use black eyeshadow to put over the liner if you want. It can make the color more even and helps set the liner so it won't move as much. I just put a little bit of sparkly shadow on with an angled brush.

6. After that I do the rest of my face- powder foundation, blush, eyebrows (mine are super light so I need makeup), then eyelashes. I use two different mascaras but that's just a personal preference. I use a lengthening one with a narrow brush on my top and bottom lashes first, then one made for volume on my upper lashes.

7. Lips- Get lip liner in a color close to what lipstick color you are using and line your lips. I usually line just below my lip on the bottom to make them look fuller.

8. Fill in the rest of your lips with the liner.

9. Use a brush to paint the lipstick over your lips. I know brushes are a hassle compared to just putting it on but you have a lot more control over where it goes and how much you use that way. Too much lip stick will move around and smear.
